The GWCT Grey Partridge Programme

The Game Wildlife and Conservation Trust have made tremendous strides in wildlife conservation and we have enjoyed a longstanding commitment to their grey partridge conservation programme.  The now rarely seen Grey partridge was at one time one of our most popular game birds but numbers fell dramatically by 80% after World War II and have largely been on the decline since then.

The GWCT  has set up a range of projects around the country, encouraging landowners to re-introduce the Grey partridge in preference to the now commonly seen French partridge. We will be supporting this year’s East Anglian award, which will take place on 14 September at the Benington Lordship in Hertfordshire, with the kind permission of Andrew and Simon Bott – last year’s winners of the East Anglian Castleacre Grey Partridge trophy.
