Camphire International Horse Trials is proving more and more popular with international eventing teams and Castleacre were delighted to sponser the CCI2* class this year. The friendly atmosphere and stunning setting in the grounds of Camphire House on the Blackwater estuary in Waterford attracts riders from all over the world including Zara Tindall, the Queen’s grandaughter, shown here flying over a rather challenging Castleacre fence, during the Cross Country.

In the end the Castleacre Insurance CCI2* class was won by Swede, Sofia Sjoborg, who at just 18 years of age put in an astonishing performance with her horse ‘DHI Mighty Dwight’ winning the dressage, showjumping and cross country. Zara and her horse were placed 6th, after a few faults in the show jumping round but fellow Brit, Samuel Ecroyd, came second on ‘Tallaher Sunrise’ while another Brit, Tom Crisp, competing with two different horses was placed 3rd and 5th.

The two outstanding international teams at Camphire this year were undoubtedly the Irish and Australians who dominated most of the other key events.
